During the Bishop’s visit to Germany in the beginning of February, Dr. Frederik Irenäus Herzberg, former Anglican priest, was conditionally ordained to the priesthood on Saturday February 6th. Fr. Frederik will serve the newly established community of St. Willibrord in Düsseldorf, Nordrhein-Westfalen. At the same occasion Mr. Thomas Schulze was installed as subdeacon to serve the community of St. Michael in Dachau.
At the end of the ordination mass Fr. Frederik was given an antimension symbolising the eucharistic bonds between the Bishop and the newly-ordained.
Clergy representing all locations where we are active in Germany, took part in the ordination mass, including the Abbot and monks from St. Severin and St. Andreas (see picture on top).
Whereas the ordination mass took place in Dachau, the Prima Missa of the newly-ordained priest on Sunday was held at the Monastery of St. Severin in Kaufbeuren, where more local parishioners were able to join the celebration.
After both events there were generous receptions enjoyed by the many participants, thus concluding another important step forward for our work in Germany. The German Administration of the Nordic Catholic Church has been led by Vicar General Klaus Mass since its etablishment in 2012.
